At PGM Ragusa we are deeply aware of the importance of protecting the environment and natural heritage. At both of our quarries – Dubac and Visočani – we constantly strive to minimize the impact of exploitation on nature, while respecting the highest environmental standards.
Our approach to sustainability
Minimizing harmful impact
Every phase of exploitation is planned to reduce negative effects on the environment. The use of modern drilling, blasting and sawing methods, optimized crushing and classification of material, and dust and noise control enable reduced impact on the surrounding area.
Quarry rehabilitation plans
For each quarry we prepare detailed rehabilitation plans that ensure exploitation areas are gradually returned to a functional and aesthetically acceptable state. Rehabilitation includes shaping the terrain, arranging slopes and preparing the land for further recultivation.
Recultivation and integration into the environment
After exploitation is completed, both quarries undergo a recultivation process to integrate them into the existing environment. The goal is to restore biodiversity, create green areas and preserve natural habitats.
Long-term sustainability
Our machines and processes are designed for maximum efficiency with minimal disruption to the natural surroundings. In this way we strive to make our operations long-term sustainable and in harmony with the natural setting.
